Officers Report to Committee – Dover District Council

We’re delighted to share that Catherine Grove, Deal, Kent has been granted planning permission with unanimous approval from Dover District Council.

Set in a beautiful woodland environment, Catherine Grove will be operated by Boutique Care Homes and feature 83 bedrooms, seven retirement bungalows, and a host of high-quality amenities, including a bistro, hobby room, family lounge, and lawn bowling green. Residents will also enjoy a tranquil woodland walk, reinforcing the client’s commitment to nature and well-being. To further enhance the landscape, 60 additional trees will be planted, complementing the 250 already on-site and strengthening biodiversity.

On the site of a former convent, this project is about more than just a care home – it’s a continuation of over 150 years of history, being named in honour of Miss Catherine Boys, founder of the Deal Orphanage.

Supported by a HPC Care Home Need Assessment, the proposal received consent on 13th February 2025 with construction starting in summer 2025 and opening planned for late 2027.
