Specialist care property consultants HPC have acted on behalf of a major charitable housing association in the transfer of its only care home to new operators.
Louise Platt, Executive Director Care & Business Partnerships, Longhurst Group“We wish HICA well for the future. Whilst Longhurst Group has taken the decision to exit the highly competitive older persons’ residential care market, it remains committed to providing high-quality care and support to older people in their own homes, or through sheltered housing, extra care housing or retirement living.”
Cranwell Court in Grimsby is a purpose built, 56 place care home, with all bedrooms having en-suite wet rooms and the majority arranged as small suites, with living space and kitchenette facilities. The home was operated by Longhurst Group, and has now been taken over by Hull-based not-for-profit operator HICA.
Louise Platt, Executive Director of Care at Longhurst Group, said that the decision to transfer Cranwell Court had been “extremely difficult”, however added that “we firmly believe that this has been the right decision for the organisation, and most importantly, for the people that call Cranwell Court home and rely so much in the services it provides.”
HPC Director Ian Wilkie, who handled the transaction, commented, “We have worked with the Longhurst Group management team for some time, first providing strategic advice and then dealing with the transfer process. Our brief was to find a like-minded operator, which would protect the interests of residents and continue the good work done by Longhurst Group. As an established non-profit operator, with an existing presence in the area, we believe HICA is the right organisation to take Cranwell Court into its next phase.”
Terry Peel, Chief Executive Officer of the HICA Group said “We are extremely pleased to have acquired Cranwell Court and have it join the HICA Family. I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our new service users and their loved ones, alongside the dedicated staff members. We have been working closely with the Longhurst Group for a number of months to ensure we achieve a smooth service user-led transfer of services.”
Louise Platt added, “We wish HICA well for the future. Whilst Longhurst Group has taken the decision to exit the highly competitive older persons’ residential care market, it remains committed to providing high-quality care and support to older people in their own homes, or through sheltered housing, extra care housing or retirement living.”
